Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) Grants
Congress passed the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act to provide some relief from the economic fallout related to the COVID-19 pandemic. One element of CARES Act funding is the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF). HEERF is funding provided to Institutions of Higher Education as part of the CARES Act to assist current students for expenses related to disruptions to their education due to COVID-19.
UPDATE
On December 27th, 2020, Congress passed the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA), Public Law 116-260. This law provided additional student grant funding to proprietary institutions to assist their students in covering financial costs related to their enrollments cost of attendance budget and for expenses related to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Acknowledgement of Funds
Summit Salon Academy – Tampa has signed and returned to the U.S. Department of Education the Certification and Agreement to receive the Student and Institutional Portion of the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund. The institution further acknowledges that it will use no less than fifty percent of the funds received under section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to its students.
On April 15th, 2021, Summit Salon Academy – Tampa has signed and returned to the U.S. Department of Education the Certification and Agreement to receive the HEERF II funding provided by Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA), Public Law 116-260, signed into law on Dec. 27, 2020. Because the institution being a proprietary institution all funding received from this Act will be used to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to its students
Instructions to Students
At Summit Salon Academy – Tampa, $224,446 has been allocated to the academy. $112,223 of the previously mentioned amount has been allocated to assist students through the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund. The academy will have an application process to facilitate the distribution of funds. Applications will be considered and approved based on documented need and expenses due to COVID-19. Students who are approved will receive a grant equal to $1,000.
At Summit Salon Academy – Tampa, $ 151,383 has been granted to the academy to assist students through the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II. The academy will have an application process to facilitate the distribution of funds. Applications will be considered and approved based on financial need and expenses due to COVID-19. Students who are approved will receive a grant based on the EFC on their 2020-21 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The award amounts are as follows:

Notification to Students
Notification of the availability of the HEERF Grant has gone out to the students through Facebook, Instagram, email, and on the Academy’s LMS. A copy of this notification is also provided in this section of this web page.
Application
Students seeking consideration for assistance from the HEERF are advised to complete the HEERF application found below. Students who apply must attest, under penalty of the law, that the expenses detailed in the application are true and accurate and be able to produce documentation of expenses incurred. The application will be available from May 18, 2020 to and until all HEERF funding has been granted up until May 13th, 2021. Notification of awards will be sent 7-14 business days after the approval of a submitted application and funds will be delivered through a paper check to the student no later than 14 business days from the date their application is approved.
